2022

4/2022 – I attended the NIST Semi-Annual Meeting at Colorado State University. The meeting was focused on the advancement and integration of the NIST-funded IN-CORE platform for risk-informed community resilience planning through validated tools that integrate physical, social, and economic data and models.

4/2022 – I had the pleasure of delivering a guest lecture in the Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering graduate class instructed by Prof. John van de Lindt at Colorado State University.

2/2022 – I am attending the ASCE 2022 Lifelines Conference at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I will present our research in the Resilience Modeling of the Built Environment and Social/Economics Impacts session.

01/2022 – I served as a Technical Reviewer of the Risk/Loss Modeling, Planning, and Response and Building Structures Tracks at the 12th National Conference on Earthquake Engineering, Salt Lake City, UT.

2021

9/2021 – I had the pleasure of presenting at the 17WCEE Special Session titled “Framework for Infrastructure Systems Resilience: Overview and Illustrative Applications in Japan and U.S.” held on September 30, 2021.

8/2021 – Our recent paper titled “Multi-dimensional Resilience Modeling and Planning for Interdependent Infrastructure Systems” is accepted for publication at 17th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (17WCEE).

5/2021 – I presented at the Engineering Mechanics Institute (#EMI2021) Conference, held at Columbia University (Session: https://lnkd.in/eWS5thm). 3/2021 – I joined Aon as a Senior Scientist in the Impact Forecasting R&D Center of Excellence in their Chicago office.

3/2021 – I delivered an invited talk on “Smart Resilient Cities: The Role of Resilience Modeling and Structural Monitoring” in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame.

3/2021 – Our abstract is published as part of the ASCE Lifelines Conference 2021-2022 Abstract Book (Link).

3/2021 – I delivered an invited seminar talk in the Mechanical Engineering Department Graduate/Faculty Seminar at New Mexico Tech. Thanks to Prof. Arvin Ebrahimkhanlou and Prof. Mostafa Hassanalian for the invitation.

3/2021 – Our invited journal article is published in the Structure and Infrastructure Engineering journal of Taylor & Francis. The paper appeared as part of a Special Issue on Risk-, Resilience-, and Sustainability-informed Assessment and Management of Infrastructure.

1/2021 – I accepted an invitation to serve as a Committee Member of Planning, Foresight and Risk Analysis Program of ISCRAM2021 (The 18th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management), Virginia Tech, VA, USA.

11/2020 – I presented our recent work on “Integrating the NIST Community Resilience Planning Playbook with IN-CORE” at the NIST Center of Excellence Virtual Semi-annual Meeting (VSAM).

10/2020 – Our paper entitled “Reconstructing Element-by-Element Dissipated Hysteretic Energy in Instrumented Buildings: Application to the Van Nuys Hotel Testbed” is published in ASCE Journal of Engineering Mechanics. The paper is available here.

10/2020 – I was selected as a Member of Task Group 1.8 Design Requirements for Infrastructure Resilience Committee of International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).

9/2019 – I presented my joint work with Dr. Eric Hernandez and Dr. David Rosowsky on nonlinear state estimation applied to post-earthquake assessment of instrumented buildings at the 12th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (IWSHM) held at Stanford University.

8/2019 – I accepted a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the NIST Center of Excellence for Risk-Based Community Resilience Planning, headquartered at Colorado State University.

7/2017 – I had a visit to the NEHRI “full-scale shake table test of a two-story mass-timber building with resilient rocking walls” at the NEES@UCSD Shake Table, the world’s largest outdoor shake table and also the largest shake table in the US.

7/2017 – I presented our paper tittle “Element-by-Element Demand-to-Capacity Ratio Estimation from SMRF Building Seismic Records” at the 7th International Conference on Experimental Vibration Analysis for Civil Engineering Structures, organized by the Department of Structural Engineering of the University of California, San Diego.
